Operation 36 (Op 36) is a structured golf development program designed to help beginners, especially juniors and adults, learn to play golf in a fun, progressive, and measurable way. The program is designed to introduce kids to the game of golf and create a pathway for kids to further explore their skills. Instead of starting from the tee box, players begin close to the hole and work their way back as they improve their game. Op 36 is currently facilitated at over 800+ golf facilities worldwide and has gained the support of Rory McIlroy.

Why Families Choose LABsters Junior Golf
How does LABsters Junior Golf blend athletic development with golf fundamentals?
LABsters integrates physical literacy into every training session. Kids learn movement patterns, balance, coordination, and body awareness alongside core golf skills. This approach builds athletic golfers rather than swing-only players, which leads to smarter movement, healthier development, and better long-term performance on the course.
What makes LABsters Junior Golf different from traditional junior golf lessons?
Unlike traditional programs that focus mainly on swing positions, LABsters emphasizes concepts, athletic movement, and real on-course application. Kids learn through play, exploration, and structured challenges. The environment is intentionally built for juniors, allowing them to experience more hitting reps, more short-game touches, and more game-based training than standard driving range lessons.
How does LABsters transition kids from practice areas to real on-course performance?
LABsters uses the Operation36 model, which starts kids close to the hole and gradually moves them farther back as they demonstrate scoring ability. This ensures that skills developed on mats and practice greens transfer directly to real scoring results. Playing events hosted at Clayton Hills Par 3 allow juniors to apply new skills immediately.
Is LABsters Junior Golf effective for kids who struggle with confidence or focus?
Yes. LABsters coaches are trained to create an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment. Kids who struggle in traditional sports often thrive with golf’s individual learning structure. LABsters uses encouraging feedback, skill scaffolding, and personalized challenges so every child can experience wins, build confidence, and see steady improvement.
How is progress tracked within LABsters Junior Golf programs?
Progress is tracked through the Operation36 mobile platform, in-class skill assessments, coach feedback, and on-course results. Parents receive updates on distance milestones, scoring achievements, and movement improvements. LABsters follows a development ladder that helps kids move from beginner to confident course players.
What role does competition play in LABsters Junior Golf?
Competition is introduced gradually and intentionally. Younger golfers begin with fun challenges that build confidence, while more experienced players can participate in Operation36 scoring events. LABsters has produced hundreds of competitive juniors and scholarship athletes, but early competition is always framed as learning first, results second.
Which program should my child start in?
Beginners typically start in the afternoon or weekend programs. Returning golfers can progress based on age and skill level. We can recommend the right fit.
How do LABsters coaches adapt instruction for different learning styles?
LABsters coaches are trained to assess how each child learns. Some respond better to visual demonstrations, others to feel-based cues, and some to simple games. Sessions use a mix of movement drills, feedback loops, guided discovery, and repetition-based learning so every athlete stays engaged and improves in their own way.
Can LABsters Junior Golf support kids who want to eventually play competitive golf?
Yes. While the foundation is fun and fundamentals, LABsters has a strong history of developing advanced juniors. Many graduates have gone on to compete at regional, national, and collegiate levels. Kids with competitive goals receive clear development paths, on-course strategies, scoring benchmarks, and technical refinement.
What is unique about the Backyard Golf environment?
This facility was literally built for juniors. The short-game spaces, the par 3 layout, and the oversized hitting nets make it ideal for high-volume, confidence-building reps. Kids can safely explore shots, learn decision-making, and get comfortable with course environments much faster than at standard driving ranges.
How does LABsters ensure young golfers stay motivated long-term?
LABsters builds motivation through variety, achievable milestones, game-based learning, supportive coaching, and a community atmosphere. Kids stay excited because they see progress, feel successful, and experience golf as fun rather than technical or stressful. The program’s culture of positivity, teamwork, and encouragement keeps juniors coming back year after year.
golf teaches great life lessons and qualities that prove to help players well into the future. We believe golf is a sport for life.
